The Week Ahead: world reacts to Islamic violence
At first glance it seems ludicrous that an amateur posting of a YouTube video would cause a wave of Islamic unrest throughout the world. As this week comes to an end hatred focused on all-and-anything American shared by citizens of the Islamic nation continues to rise.
Early this morning, L.A. County Sheriff Department arrested suspect 55 year old filmmaker of the notorious anti-Islamic video trailer credited for igniting worldwide rage against America, Nakoula Bassily Nakoula.
Steve Whitmore of the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department stated the reason for his arrest was to maintain public safety and verify that Mr. Nakoula has not violated probation. Police are also looking for two other persons of question.
Public outrage against America continues to mount as more and more people join in on a movement that now appears to be spreading like a cancerous wound across the globe.
Turmoil swept like wild fire throughout Egypt and northern Africa has seeped into Sidney, Australia where hundreds of students protested outside the U.S. Consulate. Police on horseback had to warn off demonstrators by use of anti-riot gear, dogs, and chemicals.
The Death toll continues to rise with 9 lives lost in protest and demonstrations since the video aired. Retired Army Colonel, Jack Jacobs told MSNBC today of suspected organized plans by a small group of Islamic citizens to ambush the Libyan American consulate.
